An approach for linguistic multi-attribute decision making based on linguistic many-valued logic

    Get PDF
There are various types of multi-attribute decision-making (MADM) problems in our daily lives and decision-making problems under uncertain environments with vague and imprecise information involved. Therefore, linguistic multi-attribute decision-making problems are an important type studied extensively. Besides, it is easier for decision-makers to use linguistic terms to evaluate/choose among alternatives in real life. Based on the theoretical foundation of the Hedge algebra and linguistic many-valued logic, this study aims to address multi-attribute decision-making problems by linguistic valued qualitative aggregation and reasoning method. In this paper, we construct a finite monotonous Hedge algebra for modeling the linguistic information related to MADM problems and use linguistic many-valued logic for deducing the outcome of decision making. Our method computes directly on linguistic terms without numerical approximation. This method takes advantage of linguistic information processing and shows the benefit of Hedge algebra

Numerical calculating linear vibrations of third order systems involving fractional operators

    Get PDF
This paper presents a numerical method for dynamic calculation of third order systems involving fractional operators. Using the Liouville-Rieman's definition of fractional derivatives, a numerical algorithm is developed on base of the well-known Newmark integration method to calculate dynamic response of third order systems. Then, we apply this method to calculate linear vibrations of viscoelastic systems containing fractional derivatives

In this study, Ordered Mesoporous Carbon (OMC) was prepared using resol as a carbon precursor and F127 as a soft template. Small-angle X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) images, and nitrogen adsorption and desorption isotherms revealed that OMC possessed ordered hexagonal mesostructures (p6m) with an ordered pore size of 3.2nm, a high specific surface area (SBET) of 539m2/g, and a large total pore volume (Vtotal) of 0.44cm3/g. Subsequently, silver nanoparticles synthesized from an aqueous AgNO3 solution using glucose as a reducing agent and starch as a stabilizing agent were decorated on OMC, producing Ag/OMC. XRD analysis revealed that the composite contained silver crystals. In addition, the content and size of silver nanoparticles in Ag/OMC were 0.71wt% (AAS) and around 25-50nm (TEM), respectively. Due to the surface cover of silver nanoparticles, SBET and Vtotal of Ag/OMC slightly decreased to 417m2/g and 0.38cm3/g, respectively. Both agar and broth dilution techniques were used to evaluate the antibacterial activity of the material against Staphylococcus aureus. Ag/OMC with a Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) of 25.0μg/mL is a potential candidate for use against Staphylococcus aureus

EVALUATION OF EFFICACY OF NIBRG-14 VACCINE AGAINST HIGHLY PATHOGENIC H5N1 VIRUSES ISOLATED DURING 2011 INFLUENZA OUTBREAKS IN VIETNAM

Highly pathogenic avian  influenza (HPAI) H5N1 viruses continue to be endemic  in many Asian countries causing  lethal  infections  in human. The vaccine virus  (NIBRG-14) developed from a H5N1 virus strain (A/Vietnam/1194/2004) has been approved by WHO for use in human as  well  as  poultry  vaccine.  It  is  well-known  that  the  A/H5N1  viruses  have  diversified  both genetically  and  antigenically  allowing  them  to  escape  from  the  host  immune  surveillance system.  Therefore,  evaluation  of  the  vaccine  immunogenicity  and  its  relationship  to  newly emerging  viruses  is  crucially  important. NIBRG-14 virus particles propagated  in  embryonated chicken eggs were inactivated with formalin and adjuvanted with mineral oil to form a water-in-oil emulsion. The  resulting vaccine was  injected  subcutaneously  into chickens and ducks. The vaccinated birds were challenged with  the HPAI virus strains circulating  in Vietnam  including clade  1,  clade  2.3.2.1a  and  2.3.2.1b  at  day  21  post-vaccination  (p.  v.).  We  observed  that vaccinated birds were protected from manifestation of disease signs upon challenge with HPAI clade 1 and clade 2.3.2.1a viruses; however,  it did not confer protection against clade 2.3.2.1b challenge  andstressing  the  need  for  development  of  new  effective  vaccines  against  the  newly emerging viruses

The Effectiveness of Oral Mini-Pulse Methylprednisolonein - the Treatment of Alopecia Areata in Vietnam

BACKGROUND: Systemic corticosteroid is used to treat alopecia areata, but it is associated with side effects. Mini-pulse therapy is thought to be effective but able to reduce side effects. AIM: The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of oral mini-pulse methylprednisolone in the treatment of alopecia areata. METHODS: Patients received methylprednisolone 16 mg orally for 2 consecutive days every week. RESULTS: After 3 months, among patients, 40% recovered well, and 55.6% recovered fairly. After 6 months, 82.2% recovered well, 17.8% recovered fairly. No adverse events were detected, and the recurrence rate was low (2.2%). CONCLUSION: Oral mini-pulse methylprednisolone therapy is an effective and safe therapeutic option for alopecia areata without side effects, and the time of the treatment is short

Improving Treatment Outcome of Pemphigus Vulgaris on Vietnamese Patients by Using Desmoglein Elisa Test

BACKGROUND: Pemphigus Vulgaris (PV) is a chronic disease, is characterized by the presence of flacid bullous in skin and mucosa. There are 2 main autoantibodies against desmoglein3 (Dsg3) and desmoglein1 (Dsg1). AIM: The aims of this study were to evaluate the before and after treatment outcome with corticosteroid, using Desmoglein ELISA test. METHOD: Forty patients with Pemphigus include 36 PV and 4 PF (28 women, 12 women) were enrolled. The titers of Dsg in pemphigus patients by using ELISA test were done before and 1-month treatment RESULTS: Both anti-Dsg1 and anti-Dsg3 levels were significantly reduced after treatment (P < 0.05). The severity of skin lesions was correlated with anti-Dsg1 antibody level and the severity of oral lesions was significantly correlated with anti-Dsg 3 antibody levels (p < 0.05) CONCLUSION: It is recommended that we can predict and improve the outcome of treatment by using Desmoglein ELISA test

AIM: This longitudinal study aims to evaluate the efficacy of oral itraconazole in the treatment of seborrheic dermatitis in Vietnamese patients. METHODS: Thirty patients were enrolled at National Hospital of Dermatology and Venereology, Hanoi, Vietnam and were treated with oral itraconazole (200 mg daily in 14 days followed by 200 mg weekly in 4 weeks). The clinical severity was assessed by a four-parameter scoring system. All patients completed the six-week regimen with good adherence. RESULTS: At the week 2nd, 70% of the patients had moderate to severe diseases. At the week 6th, 63.4% of the patients achieve clearance of the lesions, and none had severe disease. No side effects were reported. CONCLUSION: Oral itraconazole can be an option for seborrheic dermatitis because of good efficacy, safety profile and adherence
